Dear Twice as Shiney readers. I love you. Over the past few years I have leaned on you for support, each day listening to your kind words and watching you grow with me through your responses and shares. You have moved me and given me a quiet strength. In the next two weeks I am going to share my very personal journey with you through words and images.
Beginning in early 2014 I experienced several events that changed my life. Many of these events were reflected in the nuance of my words and art. As readers, you may have felt it, and I know many of you share similar experiences that have shaped your life.
My story includes an exit from an abusive marriage and a traumatic stroke that left me paralyzed and fighting for my own life, while simultaneously fighting to keep custody of my daughter. It includes two years of healing and recovery on a multitude of levels.
I found a deep love for myself, the grace of yoga, and a renewed respect for the healing ability of my body; I found a deep and soulful love for my partner, and for the art of healthy living.
My journey has not only taken me places within myself, it has taken me to California’s White Lotus Foundation with Ganga White and Tracey Rich for Yoga Teacher Training, and to Wyoming to work with the most prolific horse photographer in the world, Tony Stromberg. I have traveled throughout the US meeting and connecting with amazing people in amazing spaces learning and sharing the gift of yoga.
My most recent passion involves the purchase of a pre-1900 church where my partner and I are creating a space called The Shiney Studios, a place to share art, yoga, beauty, and wellness. In short, the art of mindful living.
To extend our wellness center, we have created an online platform, theshiney.com to support a diversity of artists and to provide a judgement free place to share ideas and have real dialogue about real life.
I can’t wait to share my thoughts, memories, hopes and dreams. I invite you to join me as I share this intimate journey, and I hope you find strength and love in yourself. And please, share your story with me, if you choose.
~signing off with a kind heart, fierce mind and brave spirit
